What it is
The only thing that stops a stone chip.
A stone chip is physical damage. No wax, no sealant and no ceramic coating absorbs an impact — they're all far too thin. Film is thick enough to take the hit and keep the paint underneath intact.
The top coat is self-healing, so light scratches in the film close up with heat rather than building up over time. Fitted properly you won't know it's on the car until something hits it.
Every install starts with paint prep. Film over swirled or contaminated paint seals those defects in for as long as the film stays on, so correction comes first. That's included in the quote, not added later.
